Eagle K9 Programs

OBEDIENCE
Our obedience program is a four step process.

STEP 1 – EVALUATION
In this step, we schedule an appointment for you to come in with your dog for a FREE EVALUATION. Our Master Trainer will try a few simple commands with your dog to see how they respond. He will also determine your pets attention and aggression level. We will also discuss any problems you are having and offer advice and problem solving techniques. Depending upon the findings at this meeting, a price will be given at that time.

     STEP 2 – BASIC OBEDIENCE
During Basic Obedience, we teach your dog to respond to verbal commands. (Heel, sit, stay down, come, and NO) At this time, the dog is trained to take treats (biscuits) from the left hand ONLY. This is how we reinforce the command “NO”.

STEP 3 – ADVANCED OBEDIENCE
During this phase, your dog is trained to respond to both hand signals and verbal commands. Your pet may also be able to respond off-leash at this point. We do this in a controlled environment. (For obvious safety precautions, your pet is never taken outdoors off-leash while training at the academy) During this phase and if your pet is a good candidate, it may be taken to a convalescent home to interact and socialize with other people (“pet therapy”). (Not every dog can be used for pet therapy)

STEP 4 – FOLLOW UP
The final and MOST IMPORTANT phase of training is follow-up. At this step, we now train you to give the commands to your dog. We show you the proper way to hold the leash and how to give corrections as necessary. This is done on an individual basis, one on one with our trainer. You will need to work with your dog for at least 15 minutes per day. You will also be coming back to the academy for your follow-up lessons. We guide you every step of the way. Our reputation depends on your satisfaction.
